My Own Children
I am often asked by parents who are thinking of enrolling their children into a martial arts program, "what are the longterm benefits for my children?" This is a great question and to be honest any parent of a child in our program cannot answer this question. So that leaves me, the parent of children in the martial arts, who are now adults.I started my oldest son Curt at the ripe old age of 4. Martial Art schools didn't take children that young back in 1986, but since Curt was there all evening, we decided to give it a try. Curt is now 24 and teaching martial arts in Belle River Ontario FULL TIME.
Next we have Scott. Scott started his training at the age of 4 1/2. He is now 20 and teaching the arts full time. My daughter Lisa, started at about the same age 4 1/2 and is now in her last year of college. She is 19, and looking ahead at the future will great excitement. She trained in the arts till she was about 13. At that time other interests took precedence.
So, what is my point? All 3 of my children were raised in the arts, all graduated at least high school and NO ONE ever got into any trouble, either in the school system or with the law. None of them has ever been addicted to drugs or alcohol and no one smokes. Yes, it is true that the parents should take some responsibility for this, but in all honesty, the VALUES these children learned in martial arts training has made a HUGE difference.
3 children, all clean, health adults. The results speak for themselves.
